Care Requirements

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light (e.g., east or north-facing window). Direct sun will burn the leaves, while too little light can cause the pink patterns to fade.
  • Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Use filtered water, rainwater, or distilled water, as tap water can lead to leaf tip burn.

  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between

  • Appearance: Deep purple/black leaves with a striking pink, irregular, feathered ring and a bright pink midrib.

  • Size: Generally grows to about 1 - 2 feet in height.
  • Safety: Non-toxic and safe for pets.
  • Brown Tips: Usually caused by low humidity or, more commonly, water impurities (chlorine/fluoride).
  • Fading Colors: Typically indicates too much direct light, which causes the foliage to lose its dark color.
